Project Overview
Bharat Utsav is a modern cultural programs and festival discovery platform created to bring India’s diverse traditions, celebrations and regional experiences together in one organized digital destination.
The website allows visitors to explore cultural programs across different Indian states and cities, including festivals, fairs, dance and music events, heritage traditions, food and craft exhibitions, tribal culture and street celebrations.
The Challenge
Information about Indian cultural events is often scattered across social media pages, local websites and offline advertisements. Visitors may find it difficult to discover reliable information about event dates, venues, entry charges, organizers and available facilities.
The goal was to develop a centralized, visually engaging and easy-to-manage platform where cultural programs could be published, categorized and discovered without requiring technical knowledge from the website administrator.
The Solution
A complete cultural content management system was developed using CodeIgniter 4 and PHP. The platform provides a responsive public website along with a secure administration panel for managing programs, locations, categories, galleries and website settings.
State and City-Based Discovery
Cultural programs are organized by Indian states and cities. Each state and city can contain its own description, image and cultural information, helping visitors explore programs according to their preferred destination.
Cultural Program Management
Administrators can create and manage unlimited cultural programs with information such as:
- Program title and SEO-friendly slug
- State, city and cultural category
- Venue and complete address
- Starting and ending dates
- Program timings
- Short and detailed descriptions
- Featured cover image
- Organizer contact information
- Entry fee and ticket booking URL
- Draft, published and featured status
Program Details and Image Galleries
Every cultural program has a dedicated detail page containing its schedule, venue, organizer details, ticket information and description. Multiple gallery images can be uploaded for each program with individual captions and display ordering.
Categories and Cultural Themes
Programs can be divided into categories such as Festivals & Fairs, Dance & Music, Heritage & Rituals, Food & Craft, Tribal & Folk Culture and Carnival & Street Culture.
Featured Programs
Important or upcoming programs can be marked as featured and prioritized on the homepage, helping administrators promote selected events and celebrations.
SEO-Friendly Architecture
Each program supports a custom slug, SEO title and meta description. Clean URLs and structured program information make individual event pages easier to discover through search engines and share through social media.
Contact and Enquiry Management
Visitors can submit enquiries regarding group visits, artist participation, program accessibility and general information. Enquiries are stored inside the administration panel with read and unread status management.

Design and User Experience
The interface uses a colourful visual language inspired by Indian festivals and regional traditions. The layout is fully responsive and adapts to desktop, tablet and mobile screens. Program cards, cultural images, readable typography and structured information help users quickly understand each event.
Technical Implementation
The application was developed with CodeIgniter 4 using an MVC architecture. MySQL/MariaDB is used for structured data management, while reusable PHP views, Bootstrap components and custom JavaScript provide a responsive and maintainable frontend.
The platform includes secure administrator authentication, relational state and city data, image upload management, program view tracking, publishing controls and database-backed website settings.
Result
Bharat Utsav provides a scalable digital foundation for cultural organizations, tourism platforms and event organizers. New states, cities, categories and cultural programs can be added without changing the website code, making the platform suitable for long-term expansion across India.
